Managing and Customizing Your Store

Can I customize my store?

Yes! You can add a bio, avatar (picture of yourself), upload a store banner and add descriptions, photos, and a direct link to your own URL if you have one. You may add as many items as you’d like. Once you've signed into your account, simply EDIT your profile page and add, change or delete the information.

How do I upload my banner?

First, make sure that your banner is on your hard drive and is in one of the following file formats: JPEG, JPG, GIF, or PNG. Your banner can be no larger than 480px wide by 125px tall. Then, in the Store Setup section, click the Browse button to locate this file and double-click on it to upload it into your store. Finally, click SUBMIT at the bottom of the page and your banner will appear immediately in your store.

My banner looks odd, blurry, pixilated and/or stretched. What do I do?

If your banner size is larger than 480x125 it may display oddly and you will have to resize it accordingly and then upload it once again. You also want to make sure that your picture is LARGE enough so it doesn’t distort as well.

How do I create my own banner?

If you have a graphics or photo editing program you can create your own banner. You can also add words, phrases or additional images to your banner.

What should I make my store title?

It's best if it includes some descriptive text about you, your shop and/or your merchandise.

How long can my store title be?

The maximum length is 53 alpha-numeric characters.

Why does my username have to match my store name?

We believe that this helps us to increase activity within your store and to better serve and assist our sellers. When Twolia notices items or sellers with above-average traffic, we’re able to immediately offer you ideas to improve your sales and increase your traffic.

Can I close my store and open another with a different username?

Yes you may, as long as there are no outstanding orders, but we discourage this because it means starting all over again without ratings, feedback, comments or sales numbers for everyone to see. Having this information available to shoppers helps sellers maintain credibility with potential buyers and increase sales. Please contact our Twolia Store™ Customer Service if you choose to close your account.

How many stores may I open?

You may open as many stores as you'd like but must follow the rules set forth in our Terms of Use. Please note that all feedback and ratings you receive will be applicable across ALL Twolia stores that you open. Additionally, your usernames must appear in each of your stores so that there is transparency for all shoppers.

What if I want to open a store that is separate from my other store?

You can do this, but each store must be registered to a separate Twolia account, which must each be set up with separate email addresses. In this case your selling information will not carry over from store to store.

I have business partners. Can we open a store?

Two or more individuals may open a store together but one person alone must be responsible for the fees, content and any disputes or activity associated with your store. The person who registers to open the store is the designated Store Owner.

Can I pay my fees with my PayPal account once I become a Twolia seller?

No. We do not accept PayPal as a means to collect fees due to Twolia from Sellers. We accept only a valid credit card or a credit card-issued debit card to open your Twolia store and pay your Twolia bill. Sellers may, however, choose to accept payments from buyers via PayPal, Money Order or Check.

Store Policies

What are the store policies?

Your store policies provide necessary and required information to buyers that purchase merchandise from your store. On Twolia, all transactions happen directly between the buyer and the seller. It is up to each seller to determine her own clear and specific store policies.

Where do I add/edit my Store Policies page?

You can edit your store policies by going to Home › My account › Selling › My Products page, and then clicking on the EDIT tab. All sellers post store policies.

Are Store Policies required for every seller?

Yes, all sellers must post their store policies. These policies ensure that your customers know your requirements, and they help to resolve possible disputes that may arise down the line between buyers and sellers such as questions involving returns, refunds or exchanges. Letting your buyers know ahead of time what your policies are can save you and the buyer a lot of time, and it will help to facilitate a smoother transaction.

What should I include in my Store Policies?

At a minimum, you must include: (1) payment policies (accepted methods, processing time, etc.); (2) shipping information (charges and methods); and (3) your policy for returns and/or exchanges (whether you allow either and, if so, under what circumstances). You may also want to include information about custom orders, rush orders and wholesale availability. Please make certain your policies do not contradict any of Twolia's site-wide policies by familiarizing yourself with the Terms of Use beforehand.

Do a seller's Store Policies trump Twolia's site-wide policies?

No. A seller's store policies must conform to Twolia's site-wide policies. Please make certain your store policies do not contradict any of Twolia's site-wide policies by familiarizing yourself with the Terms of Use beforehand.

How many tags can I enter?

You can have up to 12 per item.

How should I choose the best tags?

Think about how you would search for an item in an online store or in a search engine. For instance, if you are shopping for a new handbag with specific design elements, what keywords would you use? Tags are very important! You can check out Wikipedia.com for more information regarding the use of Tags.

How do categories work?

Categories are areas in which common items are listed. You may choose up to 3 categories for each item. For instance, a ceramic bowl can be listed within ‘Home Goods’ and “Ceramic and Pottery’. You choose the appropriate category(ies) from a drop-down menu, and it's automatically added to your item.

Will my listing appear in more than one category?

Yes, as long as you've selected more than one.

How do I know what category to use?

Look through the category drop-down menu and select those which best describe your listing. If you’re not sure or can’t decide, it helps to look at other stores with similar items to see how those sellers have categorized their merchandise.

Processing Buyer's Payments

When do I get paid by the buyer?

When paying via PayPal™, most buyers pay right away. If the buyer is sending payment by mail using a check or money order, you should contact each other to make the arrangement and the buyer should advise you as to when payment will be sent. If you haven't heard from the buyer after a sale, you should politely contact them with a reminder to do so.

How do I get paid by the buyer?

As a seller, you set the policies for payment. You will be paid according to the method selected by the buyer when making the purchase.

Please note:  Sellers MUST become a verified PayPal merchant in order to receive payments. If you set-up your PayPal account to accept money ONLY from verified PayPal members you will limit sales.  Setting up your account to accept Credit Card payments, as well as directly through PayPal enables all buyers to purchase from you.  Failure to do so means you will accumulate a number of "Sales Pending" orders and will not be paid until you're verified. For more information about how to become a Verified PayPal™ Seller, click here.

How do I invoice a buyer?

The best way to invoice a buyer is to send them a copy of the Twolia invoice. If they are paying via PayPal™, you can also send them an invoice that way.

Return to the Frequently Asked Questions Index

PayPal™

What is PayPal™?

PayPal™ is an online payment processing company used to facilitate sales transactions between buyers and sellers. It allows buyers to use a credit card or their bank account to submit payment for purchases made from Twolia Sellers. PayPal™ is an independent service and is not affiliated with, subsidized or endorsed by Twolia. Visit PayPal™ (www.paypal.com) for more information about their services.

How does PayPal™ work on Twolia?

Sellers MUST become a verified PayPal merchant in order to receive payments. If your PayPal account is et-up to accept money ONLY from verified PayPal members you will limit sales.  Setting up your account to accept Credit Card payments, as well as directly through PayPal enables all buyers to purchase from you.  Failure to do so means Sellers will accumulate a number of "Sales Pending" orders and will not be paid until you're verified. For more information about how to become a Verified PayPal™ Seller, click here.

For Buyers: After clicking on the "buy" button, the buyer has the option to select PayPal™ as the payment method (if the seller has chosen PayPal™ as a payment option). After the buyer selects PayPal™, Twolia sends both buyer and seller an email confirmation of the sale. The buyer is taken to PayPal™ to checkout, either by signing in to their PayPal™ account or by using a credit card without having to register for a PayPal™ account. Once the checkout process is complete, the buyer is redirected to a confirmation page on Twolia. At that time, PayPal™ will email both buyer and seller a receipt. The seller can then see the money deposited in their PayPal™ account. The payment may need to be confirmed on the seller's end.

How do I open a PayPal™ account?

Go to www.paypal.com and register to open an account. We recommended that Sellers open a premier or business account, not a personal account for two reasons: (1) personal accounts are subject to monthly limits on the amount that can be received; and (2) personal accounts cannot accept payments from buyers using a credit card. There are slight differences between premiere and business PayPal™ accounts which you can review on the PayPal™ site.

How do I add PayPal™ as a payment option in my Twolia store?

Once you’ve opened a store go to Home › My Account › My account › Selling › My Products. Scroll down the page and click on the PayPal™ option and enter the email address registered to your PayPal™ account. The PayPal™ option will be added to your listing.

Can I use PayPal™ to pay the listing and sales fees owed Twolia?

No, not now. Twolia only accepts a valid credit card or a credit-issued debit card to pay Twolia bills.

Why is the shipping charge incorrect on the PayPal™ invoice I sent the buyer?

If the charges are wrong and do not match those you set within your Twolia store, you will have to adjust your PayPal™ account settings within the PayPal™ site. If the item has already sold, you can always go back to your PayPal™ account and click on "request money" to send a new and corrected invoice to the buyer. To check your PayPal™ settings:

  • Sign in PayPal™ at www.paypal.com
  • Go to My Account > Profile > Shipping calculations (in the Selling Preferences column)
  • Select the Shipping Method and click Edit
  • Select Yes for "Override shipping methods per transaction" and press Save Changes.

I sold an item, but the money didn’t show up in my PayPal account. Why?

Sign in to your Twolia account, then go to Home › My account › Selling › My Products and click on the EDIT tab. Scroll down to Payment options and just below this, you’ll see a box for " PayPal™ payment email". Make sure your correct email address has been entered. You’ll have to make sure this email address has been registered with your PayPal™ account, and if not, make the necessary changes and contact PayPal™ support to find the payment. If the email address is correct in both accounts (Twolia and PayPal™), it’s possible the buyer has not yet paid.

Do I need a PayPal™ account in order to open a store and sell on Twolia?

It's not required, but most sellers will offer it and many buyers prefer it over credit cards or money orders and checks.

My buyer doesn't have a PayPal account. Can they use a credit card to buy?

Buyers can submit a credit card payment through PayPal™ without having a PayPal™ account as long as the Seller has become a Verified PayPal account AND has designated that they accept credit cards.  If the Seller has not selected this Credit Card option for their PayPal account, Buyers who elect to use a Credit Card will not be able to piurchase goods from that Seller

What is “Feedback” and how does it work?

Feedback allows you to share details about your transaction with other Twolia members. Feedback is a valuable way for buyers and sellers to build relationships and trust with one another. Please do not abuse feedback. Any Twolia member that abuses feedback does so at the risk of having their membership suspended or deleted, at our sole discretion. Please remember that this storefront is comprised of buyers and sellers that are actual people, not machines. Negative feedback should be honest, concise and constructive, and you should give positive feedback regularly and often! Twolia administrators may review stores that receive negative feedback and may, at Twolia’s sole discretion, shut down or suspend any store that fails to meet Twolia’s standards.

To leave feed back for a item purchased from a Twolia store, simple go to your cart, click on the order NUMBER of the item you purchased and want to leave feedback for.

Reporting Problems

I believe there has been a violation of Twolia’s Website policies or the Twolia Store policies. What should I do?

If you believe that there has been a violation of either the Twolia Website policies or the Twolia Store polices, please contact us immediately. We take all complaints seriously, and we will investigate the complaint as promptly as possible. This includes complaints regarding merchandise that you believe should not be sold within the Twolia Store. If you believe that any merchandise should not be sold within the Twolia Store, please click on the “Report this item to Twolia” link, found on the right hand side of the listing page in the Item Details Box. When you send a complaint to Twolia, please include a thorough description of what you believe the violation to be and why.

What is flagging?

Flagging allows Twolia users to bring our attention to items that appear to violate our Terms of Use and/or Store policies. Users can flag an item by clicking on the “Report this Item to Twolia” link. We try to keep flagged items a private matter. Please do not discuss flagged items any of Twolia’s common spaces, comments sections, or within their profiles. Please do not flag violations multiple times. Once is enough to get our attention!

What happens when an item is flagged?

When an item is flagged, Twolia administrators investigate the item. If the item violates our policies, on our sole discretion, we will contact the seller and ask her to remove the item immediately. We may also remove the item without contacting the seller if we feel such action is necessary to uphold our policies. Twolia will not share flagging information with any site user, including sellers that list flagged items. If you flag the wrong item, please let us know immediately. Twolia reserves the right to modify these policies at any time, without notice and at our sole discretion.
