awesome,
bad ass,
cool,
vivienne westwood

Vivienne Westwood just gave us a license to mismatch our outfits! Take that Fashion Police! For her Fall 2010 collection, she got back to her punk roots with plaids, kilts and crackhead hair. I love that. I also love the trompe l’oeil boobs in the first photo. Perfect for the ladies with mosquito bites but don’t wanna put fun bags under their skin. In all seriousness (yes, I can get serial!), this is what I (try to) dress like everyday damn day- the ‘high-end punk’ look. You know, the glamourous lady that could eff you up in a back alley with a pair of rhinestoned brass knuckles from Patricia Field’s if need be. Viv is back! Hurray!

Vagrants and hobos were Vivienne Westwood’s inspiration for her Men’s collection. Mugatu is totally pissed about this. I mean, he was the pioneer in ‘Derelicte’ Chic. Seriously, Viv better recognize. Anyway, Vivienne must have the hook ups because that shopping cart works! Around where I’m from, the shopping cart’s wheels lock once you’re out of the supermarket parking lot! This way people can’t steal them and like put their laundry and chirruns in them. This also reminds me when I would wear a fur coat in the winter and sleep at the Port Authority because I would miss my bus back to RI. I would get ‘WTF?’ looks left and right. By the way, plastic bags are a no no.

Vivienne Westwood’s Spring 2010 collection looked like something the local lady hobo would wear after raiding the Salvation Army’s rejects. This was a mess all around. I wish Viv would get back to doing beautiful gowns without the busy fabrics and jumbled ensembles. I didn’t see any corsets in her collection, which for is basically what she’s famous for. My motto is ‘Do what you’re good at’ and also ‘Don’t eff with something that doesn’t need to be effed with.’ Like my dentist keeps hounding me to pull this one baby tooth I have. Yeah, I still have one baby tooth. Weird, but true. But, it doesn’t hurt me , it doesn’t look too FUG (I assume) and I still can eat food comfortably. So why pull it!? Anyway, the point is: Vivienne needs to refocus on the gown and stop with all the BS prints. She needs to ‘simmer-down now’ as Cheri Oteri would say!

Vivienne Westwood is one of my all-time favorites, especially for the corset-ed gowns. However, her more casual line called ‘Red Label’ looks anything but the usual fashion-forward, punk socialite style that is Vivienne Westwood. Seriously, the 2nd photo is like me after I paint with my preschooler. Except, I ‘d have a pissed face, not a ‘420 smirk’ like the model. The horn hat looks like the albino version of ‘Hellboy‘ (before he saws them off , of course.) I do dig the plastic shoes with the wings, though. Apparently, they are the new collection of shoes with Brazilian plastic shoe company, Melissa. I could use some wings in my life.

If there was a mismatch made in hell in the fashion world it would have been Vivienne Westwood and Pamela Anderson. This prophecy was fulfilled at the Vivienne Westwood Fall Ready- to-Wear 2009 show. Apparently Westwood didn’t take her meds while designing this collection because it was a complete mess from beginning to end. The red dye is starting to seep into her brain. Exhibit A- look above. I don’t even know where my eyes should rest. I think I have a headache. Moving on, I’m actually quite depressed about this. Viv is one of my most favorite designers ever-and she sort of let me down. Like in the way a parent promises to take you to the circus, but doesn’t and then buys you a candy bar to shut you up. But, I suppose the photos above are like going to the circus! but I still feel let down.
Awwwww.

Vivienne Westwood had a lot of misses and a few hits in my opinion… Here are the ‘hits’ for me- I’ a fan of that Gothic Victorian look- and the more distressed, the better. … it was nothing special in my eye, especially since I know Vivienne Westwood’s extremely genius potential. But nonetheless, she has reedeemed himself with the looks above. God Save Vivienne!
