On one of my recent trips to NYC, I stopped by Henri Bendel (I’ve been going there since I was 13) and saw that they have switched to only accessories, jewelry and handbags. No more clothes and shoes. It’s so sparkley now! My cats would have a ball. Hell, I had a ball! Anyway, I stumbled upon these really cool hats by French hat designer, Selima. Each one is handmade at her studio/boutique on Bond Street in NYC and also is available at Henri Bendel. Selima provided hats for Malandrino’s Spring 2010 Collection and many socialites. Check out her cool site for custom made hats, blog and contact.

Belgian designer Walter Van Beirendonck must not be able to wait for Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, because I see some great influences in his Fall 2010 collection! Seriously, if you take away all the weird animal hoop skirts, it’s actually a pretty cool collection of girly, English equestrian with a spunk of color. I don’t know what’s up with the Bob the Builder male model , though. Check out Walter’s website and make sure to click on photos of his boutique in Antwerp. The register area is like a suspended Star Trek computer station. No hiding a glock behind those counters! Hahahaahahahaa… I digress.

Artist Patrizio di Renzo work is a beautiful sight of the haute couture of the 1980s coming to life. It’s like Dynasty had a baby with a mime from the Venetian (or Spy vs. Spy) and it created a Japanese Grace Jones! STELLAR! Anyway, I would totally wear these black and white outfits here. It would be like Where’s Waldo. So, Serge Lutens did a Shiseido ad campaign back in the 1980s. Do you think Patrizio took inspiration from this? Check out the sickle on her finger! She ready to cut a b*tch up! I want that.

Besides busting on designers on this here classy blog, I also moonlight as a fashion stylist. I gotta hustle for my kid’s cookies, candies and toys, right? No, I really love styling, especially if I am given the creative freedom to express my fashion dreams. I’m speaking codes right now. I’ll translate: As long as it’s not a Sears catalog, I’m happy( and there is an endless supply of Cadbury and tea at the craft service)! Anyway, I worked with photographer,Chelsea Hewitt, who I met through Sebastian International, a lovely makeup artist (who’s name escapes me) and a gorgeous German model (who’s name escapes me, also -shame on me!) that was sporting a Billy Idol do (loved it!) and was like a chameleon. We chatted about weinerschnitzels, Kauf-Hauf and Nuremberg- it was fantastic. I hope you enjoy these photos- these are all from my personal collection. Contact me if you have questions about the origin of any accessories- each has a little story behind it.
PS- See more of my fashion styling at my website under the Photos section. Be sure to turn on your volume and pet the kitty on the home page!

Check out these awesome hats from Tour de Force ! As you may know, I love love love hats. It’s just such a shame that when you wear a hat these days, people assume you’re a batty and confused woman that thinks she’s in an Audrey Hepburn movie. At least, that’s what I gather. Anyway, my personal faves are the the birdcage (of course!) and the red curly curls. Why, you ask? Because the red curls look like a cartoon and I strive to look cartoon-y as possible. And the birdcage, well, I’d wear that with a yellow feather sticking out of my mouth! What can I say….after living with three cats for so many years, you start acting like one.

My friend , ‘Tressa the Hairdressa’, designed these awesome hair/head pieces. I asked her to do a teacup to go with my Alice in Wonderland outfit and she came up with the above photo. Seeing that I love gnomes (like LOVE, I have a gaggle gnomes in my home), Tressa made a mushroom hat for days when I feel like prancing through the forest with my little gnome looking for ladybugs. (What? Doesn’t everyone do that?) And , last but not least, the ‘rosettes’ made of matching hair for a ‘Rose” effect! Those are great because you slide them on and it looks like you had you’re hair done at the hairdressa! You can order these and many others at Puppycatmeow.
PS- I made the photos look like a storybook with the ‘vignette’ and ‘antique’ option on my iPhoto…Good stuff!
PPS- She also did the Lady Gaga Bow for me as seen on an earlier post!

Wig and Hair extraordinaire, Charlie Le Mindu created a lip-shaped wig for his Spring 2010 collection. It could look obscene if flipped sideways. I’m not even gonna go there! I like how there are 3 pairs of sunglasses. It reminds me of that statue in Soho, NYC with 8 pairs of boobies. The other wig is more than a wig, it’s a fuping mask - Prince’s My Name is Prince style! That was my jam back in the day! My name is Prince ’cause I am funky! I’ll spare you the lyrics even though they’re embedded in my brain until I die! Plus, I know you know them already. So, check out Charlie’s website- it’s really cool, especially, with the New Jersey mafia housewife as a reoccurring character as the pages load.
Also, Check out PuppyCatMeow’s awesome custom headband/ hair bow made by the delightful Tressa the Hairdressa! She does custom work and has a great section of non-custom cool stuff for hair. You may contact her for any wig/hair creations at puppycatmeow (at) hotmail.com ( make sure you put ‘hair bow ‘ in the subject line) . I LOVE my HAIR BOW! Although, I’m not kookoo for Lady Gaga, that hair bow is the bomb! Thanks, Tressa, for making this for me!

When I see Lady Gaga, I can’t help notice the striking facial resemblance and style she has with the late Isabella Blow. For those of you who don’t know who Isabella Blow is, let’s just say she was the hottest slut in all the fashion world. She was a fashion muse to AlexanderMcQueen and Philip Treacy and also a staunch supporter of the haute couture world. I remember seeing her one rainy afternoon in Henri Bendel. She had the tallest effed up hat on and had an equally odd dress to match. She looked awesome! I was a teenager at the time and thought , ‘Dang! I want to pull that off one day!’ Anyway, the point of this post is to let you decide whether Lady Gaga was inspired by Isabella Blow. I think Isabella may have had a love child and her name is Lady Gaga. or not.

Stephen Jones (above) , Piers Atkinson (below)

If you want a hat that really makes a statement, call on these two magnificent milliners, Stephen Jones and Piers Atkinson. Each has their own unique sense of style- Jones with an elegant, vintage flair with a touch of quirk and Atkinson with an outlandish, offbeat style that can be eccentric. Both are breathtaking, in my opinion, and deserve much success for their visionary take on covering a precarious, small space- the head. Having said that, does this give me a license to put a nude Barbie on my head for the next soiree I attend? I think it does! Yessssss!

These hats are so cool! They remind me of that video game , Q*bert . I would play the arcade game at Pizza Hut when I was a kid. I was easy to please- an individual cheese pizza (earned by the ‘Bookworm’ contest), a soda and Q*bert and I was All Set! I know, I was such a Geek! By the way, the Bookworm contest was a contest where whoever read the most books would earn a pizza once a week. Yes, my motivation was PIZZA! It got my ass to read , though. (I would just read the back covers.) OFF TRACK- sorry. Anyway, those models must have a crane in the back of their head to keep the hats up! Gorgeous!
