I Have Now Officially Tried Daiya Cheese! September 14, 2009

My husband and I went to visit family in Rhode Island this past weekend. On the way there we passed Mystic CT and I remembered something… When doing the post on Daiya cheese a few weeks ago and looking at the list of places that carry it, a pizza place in Mystic CT was on the list! So on the way home when we needed a break from driving (We were pretty darn exhausted), we stopped at Pizzetta.

We ordered two pies (figuring we could take the rest home and have it for dinner or lunch the next day). Pineapple and onion and then their vegan pesto specialty pizza. Yes, they also have vegan pesto. Check out the image to your right. That was our pizza.  In addition, adding to the coolness, gluten free pizza crust is available for all those sensitive to gluten.

Daiya cheese is by far the tastiest vegan cheese I’ve tried. It melts, has stretch, and offers a creamy texture. I liked the pineapple pizza more than the pesto. I also think that even though Daiya cheese is really good, I would not want to order a plain pizza of it. I would definitely want something with it to accent the flavors.
