I am really fascinated with wallpaper right now. Mainly what you can do with it other than put it on your wall. Being a paper junkie I have started to collect vintage wallpaper and I have been making little jotters with them. Eventually I would love to add beautiful furniture to traditional pieces of furniture to give it a new life like the ones shown here from Bryonie Porter. My jotters are just a baby step for now. :) Hopefully one of these days I will tackle this project. I really love the pattern choices and this knobs are so cool. Very fun and and a little quirky!

Adding beautiful quality made textiles into your home can make such a difference. I wouldnt mind having a few pieces selected from Anna Ortmark Textiles to make my living and sleeping area cozy and pretty.

Here is a little bit about the collection:

“The collection consists of embroidered and handmade vintage quilts and cushion covers, tablecloths and napkins with hand block printed patterns inspired by nature, throws made from sari cloth, lace patterned bedspreads, cotton crochet throws and much more - in entirely unique designs. The products go perfectly together with a sofa or on an upholstered chair, to give the home more character and a personal touch.”

Screens as dividers has come along way in interior design. We are all used to the very common rice paper shoji screen but not all of our homes are decorated with an Asian flair. There have been plenty of times where a divider was needed and the options were limited so when I came across these beautiful upholstered screens from Frou Frou and Claude I was quite intrigued. You choose the fabric and they upholster it to the screen. I like that the screens are not only pretty but they are of course functional and they help to absorb sound. This could also be a fun DIY project if you are up for a crafty challenge.

Weeks Best! June 21st-26th

Friday, June 26th, 2009

When I was picking the photos to choose for this weeks best I found that I chose several yellow interiors. Not usually a color I would go for but it must be something about it being summer and maybe there were more to choose from. I also always find myself picking out green spaces because it’s my favorite color and my house is mainly green. I also had a few interiors that have soft blues, grays and whites that I couldn’t pass up so here is a combination of all these colors. This first photo with the chairs found over at Gathering Spriggs pretty much starts the post. Enjoy!

Interior Spaces: Pikku’s NSS Booth

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

I have really been enjoying Oh So Beautiful Paper’s blog the past week with all of her lovely photos of the National Stationary Show. There is so much incredible design in one place including interiors, graphics, and textiles. Interiors being in the booths and graphics being what they are selling. I have to say though that Pikku’s booth is my all time favorite. This has got to be the cutest booth ever! It’s so clean, homey and colorful. Perfect environment for a little shop.

Featuring: Harlequin Fabrics and Wallcoverings

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

On the last Weeks Best! I mentioned how I came across Harlequin (via Paisly St. Clair) and how I basically got stuck on their website saving a ton of their interiors on my tumblr page. They have the prettiest wallpaper and fabrics it’s hard to find a room of theirs that I didn’t like. I love how much attention is placed in setting up their textiles in the best environment. For example they implement furniture and decor in a similar style and color as the textile they are showcasing making it feel special and noticeably the inspiration for the design. You can see more of their lovely fabrics on the Harlequin website.

I was very intrigued by the beautiful designs of Mokum Textiles when I saw it on Design Sponge awhile back ago. They have so many beautiful patterns. I can see myself going crazy with them. I also really like how they have displayed them for the photo shoot. For instance the pillow on the grass and those beautiul pink upholstered chairs with lovely backdrops. Here are a few of my favorites from their website. They also have a pretty cool blog that you can check out HERE.

Product Trend: Handwriting on Upholstery & Wood

Monday, February 9th, 2009

I can’t really explain the handwriting trend but I would guess that it might have something to do with more people wanting to go back to tradition since it seems that we hardly ever actually hand write letters anymore. I received my wedding invitations and now I am just waiting for a few more pieces to complete them. Meanwhile my mother has been addressing all the invitations in calligraphy and they look beautiful! I am wanting a traditional and very natural style to the invitations so I thought calligraphy would be perfect and I am so glad that I decided to go this route. I can’t wait to get them all together to show you guys. (Click here to see wedding website)

Since we are on the subject of handwriting I am curious to know what people still hand write. I hand write my to do list, my shopping list and my daily planner. I have a hard time keeping track of it all in my Blackberry or on my computer. Even though I can type pretty fast I find it quicker and easier to hand write fast thoughts like a to-do list. My fiance has an iPhone and he logs everything in there. We were at breakfast while ago and we were inputting the schedule of our wedding week and I was handwriting mine in my planner and he was typing it into his iPhone and it was like we were racing and I totally won. What are some things that you still hand write?

Inpiration Board: Red, Green & Yellow Dining Room

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

I was so inspired by the designs from Megan Park (featured last week) that I decided to use one of her photos for an inspiration board. The image in the top left hand corner is showcasing Megan Park’s Homewares. It provided beautiful fabric and texture inspiration. I decided to use her Long Peony Night Slip in Lollipop (middle) for inspiration on a fabric that I would upholster a seat cushion on a dining chair. I wanted to have a birch round table because I like how it went with the round light wood hangers in the Megan Park photo. I then chose a gray silk drapery that replicated the gray robe and I also decided to use a green textured wallpaper similar to the one in the inspiration image. For accents that would pop I chose red rounded plates and yellow flowers in a vase to decorate the table. I can really visualize this dining space and see it being for cozy and chic.
