Featuring: Bryonie Porter

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

I am really fascinated with wallpaper right now. Mainly what you can do with it other than put it on your wall. Being a paper junkie I have started to collect vintage wallpaper and I have been making little jotters with them. Eventually I would love to add beautiful furniture to traditional pieces of furniture to give it a new life like the ones shown here from Bryonie Porter. My jotters are just a baby step for now. :) Hopefully one of these days I will tackle this project. I really love the pattern choices and this knobs are so cool. Very fun and and a little quirky!

Featuring: Jardins en Fleur

Monday, July 27th, 2009

I am really enjoying these beautiful pieces of home decor and furniture with a modern Asian aesthetic from Jardins en Fleur (pron: Zhar-dans Ahn Flur). I especially love this purple tea set. So adorable!

On their website they explain the meaning of their name:

“From the French it literally translates to “Gardens in Flower.” That’s when gardens are at their pinnacle of beauty.  And “gardens in flower” sounds so much better in French. N’est ce pas?”

- Simon P. Scott

If you are loving this look as much as me then you should check out their site for more of their lovely products: http://www.jardinsenfleur.com

Featuring: Tonin Casa - Modern or Classic?

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Today I received a small and sleek pamphlet for the company called Tonin Casa. I have to say the pamphlet made me want to see more and so I decided to check out their website www.tonincasa.it. When you get to the catalogue page on the website it asks you if you want Modern or Classic. Now this wasnt an easy choice for me but I chose classic first which tells me a little something about my style preference. The first four below are found in the Classic section and the last four were found in the modern section. Which one do you prefer?

Inspiration Board: Colorful Retro Living Room

nevara-sk

I came across this photo the other day and I was mainly inspired by the colors and fabrics which made me think it would be a great photo to design a room around.

You can see in my inspiration board that I decided to use the main color of the photo as fabric for the main pieces in the room. I liked the idea of the little red shoes as an accent piece and so I decided to go with this circular red pattern for a pillow. I think it picks up the shape of her shoes quite well. I then decided I needed another piece to pick up that sweater color and I found this lamp which picks up the light and dark aqua of the photo. I really love the shade of that lamp and I wanted to carry that look through so I went with a glass and metal round coffee table.

These are so fun for me to do and it is so nice when you find something that inspires you automatically. :)

Product Trend: Suitcase Side Tables

Monday, June 1st, 2009

If you are like me and you have too many suitcases then you might want to display them in a more fashionable and functional way by making it into a side table. I think a suitcase side table makes the space feel quite homey and it has this french boudoir feel to it which I really love. If splurging on a new side table is not in the budget then I think an old suitcase will do just fine. Check out some of these for inspiration.

Elements of Color: Yellow Furniture and Decor

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

I really love doing these elements of color posts because I often times will visualize a color for a piece of furniture or decor without knowing exactly what I want it to look like and then I can go into my archives and see if any of them will work. Some of these pieces may be familiar to you like the floral print chair from Anthro and the console table from Ikea but hopefully some of these are new to you. My new favorite one that I found is the bird pillow from CB2. Simplistic yet very sweet.

These definitely put me into a sunny and Spring mood!

Featuring: Mint Shop

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

You know when you come across something so different and unique you aren’t sure if you like it right away? That is how I felt when I came across the furniture from the Mint Shop. I decided that I really do like the furniture and decor from Mint Shop because it is different but also quite aesthetically pleasing and beautiful and most importantly livable. For instance check out that table that has two different legs. It’s like two face from Batman. I just love it! I look at a lot of furniture and lighting and decor and I will often times continue to come across the same thing over and over again and so you can imagine when I came across Mint’s products I was pleasantly surprised! Some of my other favorite pieces is the floral etched mirror (swoon), that chandelier/drum light (how cool!), and that yellow and black upholstered chaise! Their shop is a definite bookmark!

Featuring: “The Love Collection” from Deadgood

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

If you couldn’t get enough hearts and love this week then you might enjoy these really cool heart furniture pieces from “The Love Collection” by Deadgood. There are three pieces; a console with a heart corner, a lounge chair with heart buttons, and a beautiful heart wood mirror. The furniture is made by craftsman who use traditional techniques located in Britain. I think they are quite fun and something you could definitely keep in your home all year round. I enjoy the subtle touches on the table and the chair and I like that you would have to really look at the details to see the special heart design. You can find more information HERE.

Elements of Color: Pink Furniture & Decor

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

As I was putting this pink furniture and decor post together my fiance looks over and says “oh god those are awful”. I just laughed and said you just don’t get it, these are actually quite fabulous! Living with a man comes compromise and pink decor doesn’t seem like its in the cards but a girl can look and dream. I call this screen shopping instead of window shopping. :) So are there any lucky girls out there that get to have pink in their home besides the baby girl nursery?
