Room of the Day: A Royal Dining Room

I really love how you could easily transform the feel of this space by adding a different colored tablecloth and candles. The lavender color is a great choice but it might be a little girly for some people and so by adding a blue or even a brown tablecloth could make it feel a little more masculine. The details in this space are really nice including the more simpler chandelier that feels well proportionate. A really large chandelier may feel too overwhelming. The architecture including the ceiling beams and fireplace and wainscoting is perfect with this french styled furniture. Isn’t is lovely?

Room of the Day: Bathroom to Wake Up To

How lovely would it be to crawl out of bed and get into this bathtub to wake up for the day with the sun shining in? After the bath you have a lovely robe to slip on and then you sit down at your pretty vanity and put on makeup and your perfume and any other necessary beauty to dos. Some of the details that I love about this space is the bubbly light fixture above the tub and that wallpaper is beautifully subtle and the long plum velvet drapery that floods on the gorgeous wood parquet flooring. Swoon!

Room of the Day: Charming Dining Room

I have never been a huge purple fan but I am really loving this more subdued almost mauve lilac color.

First of all I would have never imagined that black and white checkerboard flooring, let alone at an angle, would look so chic with purple floral wallpaper. Those long purple drapes are perfect and really bring in drama, elegance and really helps you focus on an area instead of having your eye wonder every which direction.

The modern Saarinaran dining table is absolutely divine with those adorable weathered down white chairs and I love those props too! An old phone and adorable tea set really brings it all together. :) Overall a really great and fun space that you don’t see everyday.

What do you love about this space?

Room of the Day: Floral Frenzied Bathroom

What an adorable little bathroom! Love love love those beautiful mirrors layed out like that. I wonder if I am tall enough to check myself in that top one? Even if I had to bend down to look in the mirror I dont think I would mind. Its just that pretty. I cant get over how cool that wallpaper is. I love that they did just an accent wall so it wasn’t overwhelming and it looks like it was decoupaged on there. Very cool! :) Oh and check out that tile! You don’t see flooring like that every day.

Ashley from Decorology found this space along with more photos from the rest of the house from Elle Decor. Check out her post for more loveliness!

Room of the Day: Little Green Notebook’s Dining Room

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

I am so impressed with the outcome of Jenny’s dining room makeover seen over on her blog Little Green Notebook.

On her post you can see that a lot of work went into her redo including reupholstering this beautiful settee and a pair of dining chairs along with painting a few pieces as well! I love how she shows that you can still design a beautiful and elegant space affordably with just a little work and creativity. Great job Jenny! Check out more of her photos and her diy projects on her beautiful blog Little Green Notebook.

Room of the Day: Romantic Getaway

Such a homey and lovely space to sleep in.

It reminds me of the Bed & Breakfasts in Ireland. Non pretentious yet elegant and tasteful where you could feel comfortable in someone elses home. I love that every piece was if it was passed down to the owner and delicately placed with thoughtfulness and care. The colors and items are well situated in the room and there is a nice sense of flow and from one thing to the next. I would imagine that this would be a very pleasant place to visit on a romantic getaway. :)

Loving…..

I have been sewing more lately and so I have set up an area for my sewing machine and although my fabrics are sort of everywhere like this photo my space is not nearly as pretty. Loving the old naturally distressed sewing table (you just dont see these anymore like this!) and I would love that extra surface area. I am also swooning over the flowing thick darpery with tassle tiebacks. I wouldnt mind that view either.

Is this not the sweetest sewing area you ever could see?

Room of the Day: Beautiful Nursery

Ooh la la!

This is one lucky baby! I found this space while I was looking for inspiration for a nursery that I am designing for a client in LA. Unfortunately I am working with a baby boy in mind and not a baby girl or I would have loved to use this beautiful lavender color as well. The design is from Little Crown Interiors and they specialize in baby and children design. I would imagine that this would be a great niche to be in. Everyone wants to have the best for a baby and when your pregnant I would imagine that decorating the nursery can be a lot to tackle.

There are so many great details in the space including the fabric ceiling (swoon!) and the fold down changer table. Beautiful design and I can see the baby growing into the space later on as well.

Room of the Day: Parisian Chic

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Last week I came across this beautiful space from Peacock Feathers and was blown away by all the prettiness!

parisianchichomesandgardens-1

I commented on her blog and said it reminded me of something out of the movie Marie Antoinette. I would imagine that this is the space for woman to drink tea and gossip on a rainy afternoon. Those drapes are so dreamy and I love the mismatched chairs in soft blue and pink upholstery. I think the only thing I would want is a bigger and grander chandelier.

Wouldn’t this be a great place for a book club? I think I need one of these girl rooms! So fun!

Room of the Day: Beautiful Blue Dining Room

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Apparently this is an oldie but goodie interior image from the archives of House to Home via Made by Girl. It is new to me though and I am really in love with it!

housetohome

I think the blue wallpaper wall is quite stunning and I like that it is used only as an accent wall so it doesn’t feel overwhelming or overdone. I think that skylight is amazing and it really makes a statement with those two Nelson looking lights. The traditional dark table is perfect and I think it works really well with those french bistro armchairs.

I also really love that striped rug and it doesnt feel like it competes with the wallpaper but rather compliments it nicely. The plants are also a nice touch because it breaks up the monotonous color scheme and warms the space up a bit. Overall I think the daylighting coming in to this space along with all the pretty blue makes this dining room really clean, airy and pretty!

What do you think?
