Weeks Best! October 25th-30th

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I am really digging on these super dark spaces and pretty berry toned interiors this week.

That apple arrangement is absolute genius. It would be so pretty to do that for an autumn party get together and the best part is you can eat the apples afterward!

Thanks for stopping by this week and have a Happy Halloween tomorrow!

So many pretties this week!

I think my favorite thing I saw this week was this umbrella hanging above the bed on the window (#3) and this amazing photo found over at the beautiful Callie Grayson.

Weeks Best! October 11th-16th

Saturday, October 17th, 2009

One of my favorite color combos is rust paprika reds with natural greens. They would look warm and lovely together in a room or monochromatic adjacent to one another. Adding light natural wood or beige tones is also a nice compliment. Enjoy the inspiration!

Working with Sectionals

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

On Sunday my husband was quite the decorator. He has been itching for some change and so he figured rearranging the apartment would help. He made the cutest floor plan and actually made it to scale and cut out little pieces of furniture. So adorable! I am so happy we rearranged because it looks great and I didn’t realize how much I needed the change too! I have taught him well! ;)

We have a very large sectional that is difficult to work with. Before we used the sectional to create a living room area separate from the other “zones”. We decided that we wanted the area to be more open so we moved it into a corner making the space feel more open and less closed off with unnecessary hallways. Our space is just not big enough to pull off the sectional actually sectioning off a space like a divider. I figured that some other people might be in similar dilemma and so I posted some images below that have sectionals in them to show how other designers worked with them. The first 6 photos are examples of sectionals placed in the corner and the last 6 are examples of sectionals being used to break off a space creating a divider between areas. Hope this helps!

Room of the Day: Parisian Chic

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Last week I came across this beautiful space from Peacock Feathers and was blown away by all the prettiness!

parisianchichomesandgardens-1

I commented on her blog and said it reminded me of something out of the movie Marie Antoinette. I would imagine that this is the space for woman to drink tea and gossip on a rainy afternoon. Those drapes are so dreamy and I love the mismatched chairs in soft blue and pink upholstery. I think the only thing I would want is a bigger and grander chandelier.

Wouldn’t this be a great place for a book club? I think I need one of these girl rooms! So fun!

Weeks Best! September 13th-18th

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

I apologize for the late Weeks Best this week. I needed a little break yesterday and I am glad I did it because I feel tons better. This week I am loving tartan plaid, all shades of moody grays and a delectable collection of berry tones. Enjoy!

Room of the Day: Well Balanced Living Area

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Here is a new favorite of mine.

katiedid

At first glance of the photo you may not be able to realize it is a photo from a showroom. The Erin Martin’s Showroom to be exact. Katie Denham from Katiedid recently visited the Napa furniture showroom and took this lovely photo of one of the areas. I think what I love most about this space is that its feminine but also a little bit masculine. The beautiful peach pillows and the dress artwork are visibally more girly but the strong rock wall and black tall metal lamp add a little masculinity which creates a really nice balance. Speaking of balance I love how the off white stools/ottomans/side tables work with the off white rock wall. The black heavy mirror with the black lamp to the black pillow creates a nice flow from one thing to the next. I like that I could visually see this working in many spaces which makes me want to buy it all. Afterall that is what makes a good showroom. You can see more photos from the showrooom over at Katiedid.

Room of the Day: Tropical Home with Sand Carpeting!

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

This has got to be one of the coolest spaces ever!

charliesdesigndiary

Can you imagine how nice this would be on your feet to have a sand carpet? Not only that but it is entirely open on the sides. I can’t even imagine living in a space like this. What about theft? What about privacy? What about bugs? Could you live here?

This space makes me think of this Restaurant here on Maui called Hula Grill and they have a barefoot area where it is all sand underneath your toes. I love going there and eating their fish and chips and sashimi and taking my flip flops off. It’s a great feeling. Have you ever been to Hula Grill or been to a restaurant that did this?

Interior Spaces: Pink and Lime Green Home

Monday, July 27th, 2009

I was completely smitten by this beautiful pink and lime green home featured on Carolyns Lost and Found blog a few days back.

I don’t think I could ever be daring enough to implement this color scheme into my own home but I can definitely admire it from afar. I really like the beautiful flow from exterior to interior and how they used the peachy pinks and lime greens sparingly. The hardwood floors and mostly neutral furniture and architecture creates a nice backdrop for these bright hues. Notice also how lovely the built in are espcially the fireplace and bookshelf and the window seat. Isn’t it pretty?

Room of the Day: Soft Blue Relaxing Space

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

This beautiful soft blue space has so many gorgeous details.

I especially love the blue flower pattern on that fireplace. And lets talk about that fireplace! I have never seen anything like it. It looks like an armoire and it feels like it was the inspiration for the space. The designer pulled the gold circle and brought it in the space by adding a gold mirror.

I really can imagine sitting here chatting with friends over a cup of Earl gray. It also looks like a great place to read a book like Jane Eyre or Pride and Prejudice.
