Room by Color: Green Bedrooms Asian Style

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

I had a man email me the other day asking for some decorating advice.

This is what he wrote:

“I want to paint my bedroom walls a sage green color. I was wondering how to decorate the rest though as far as bedding and such. I would like it to have an Asian feel. Any help or pictures of ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank You.”

So I needed to look for green bedrooms with an Asian style. Here are my top 6 that I think were the most inspirational.

I like the idea of incorporating dark woods with white bedding and rice paper lanterns for more of a modern take on the Asian style. I think keeping it clean and minimal will give it the Asian aesthetic. What are some of your suggestions for him?

Weeks Best! November 1st-6th

Friday, November 6th, 2009

This week has been a little hectic so its quite nice to relax to the thought of spending time in these calm and soothing spaces.

Aahhh… So peaceful. I could definitely clear my thoughts and take a nice little nap in those pretty bedrooms. What great spaces where I can kick up my feet and chill out. :)

I am really digging on these super dark spaces and pretty berry toned interiors this week.

That apple arrangement is absolute genius. It would be so pretty to do that for an autumn party get together and the best part is you can eat the apples afterward!

Thanks for stopping by this week and have a Happy Halloween tomorrow!

So many pretties this week!

I think my favorite thing I saw this week was this umbrella hanging above the bed on the window (#3) and this amazing photo found over at the beautiful Callie Grayson.

One of my favorite color combos is rust paprika reds with natural greens. They would look warm and lovely together in a room or monochromatic adjacent to one another. Adding light natural wood or beige tones is also a nice compliment. Enjoy the inspiration!

Room by Color: White Bedrooms

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

What do they say about white after Labor Day? ; )

I guess it mainly applies to fashion but does anybody really follow the rule? The reasons behind it are quite silly if you ask me and since I live in a warm place all year round I really don’t see people following it here.

What about interiors though? When I think about white interiors I think about winter especially if paired with grays and dry branches but if you pair it with bright colors like orange and turquoise it feels more summery. All in all white is a neutral color and like black you can pretty much wear it or decorate your house with it all year round. In fact you can pretty much have what ever color you want in your home anytime you want. I say pick the colors that make you happy whether your wearing it or living in it.

Wouldn’t you agree or do you think people should stick with fall colors in fall and spring colors in spring?

Room of the Day: Oahu Hotel Room

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

As I mentioned in my last post I am looking forward to getting off Maui for a few days and exploring Oahu’s night life and hiking trails. After I saw this post from Life in a Venti Cup I started wishing I could stay in this hotel room for my mini vacation.

I started looking at this photo some more and realized the architecture is really similar to our loft. Not as fancy but we have a railing that overlooks the living area below. They implemented a beautiful, what looks to be a capiz shell chandelier, and I had never really thought about adding a light fixture in that area. I am now looking into different options that I could do on a budget. Isnt it beautiful?

Weeks Best! July 12th-17th

Friday, July 17th, 2009

This week has been pretty busy. I have been getting some 3d renderings done for the Restaurant we are working on and it is coming out quite lovely. We started with the bathrooms and we are incorporating black and white tile, vintage high tanks and a pretty vanity area with an oval mirror and sconces. I will have to show you some final renderings later. I also heard that one of my clients is pregnant and needs help with her nursery! So that should be an exciting new project and I will have to show all of you my inspiration soon.

My evenings have been spent looking at pretty photos as usual and this week the photos I came across remind me more of Spring than Summer but thats okay because I like that season too. Enjoy and have a great easy going weekend!
