Weeks Best! October 25th-30th

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I am really digging on these super dark spaces and pretty berry toned interiors this week.

That apple arrangement is absolute genius. It would be so pretty to do that for an autumn party get together and the best part is you can eat the apples afterward!

Thanks for stopping by this week and have a Happy Halloween tomorrow!

Featuring: Lisa Fontanarosa

And this is just a small percentage of whats is on her beautiful website. Here is a bit about what Lisa does:

“Lisa Fontanarosa presents the world’s most wonderful, whimsical, and witty home furnishings. The Collection of artist-made pieces-from chandeliers and cushions to glassware and sculpture-dares to be different and is designed to delight.”

I think I would be quite delightful if I owned just one of these pieces. So different and interesting. Its quite refreshing for a change.

Have some time to spare? Go check out her site at http://lisafontanarosa.com You wont regret it. :)

Room of the Day: Romantic Getaway

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Such a homey and lovely space to sleep in.

kimmus122-flickr

It reminds me of the Bed & Breakfasts in Ireland. Non pretentious yet elegant and tasteful where you could feel comfortable in someone elses home. I love that every piece was if it was passed down to the owner and delicately placed with thoughtfulness and care. The colors and items are well situated in the room and there is a nice sense of flow and from one thing to the next. I would imagine that this would be a very pleasant place to visit on a romantic getaway. :)

So many pretties this week!

I think my favorite thing I saw this week was this umbrella hanging above the bed on the window (#3) and this amazing photo found over at the beautiful Callie Grayson.

Room by Color: Orange & Black

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

I think its about time I pulled out my favorite black and orange interiors!

I think these are great examples of orange and black interiors that can work all year round. They have a very elegant yet fun feel to them. I have to say that I tend to stay away from this color scheme for fear that it will look too Halloweeney but I think these inspirational images gives me some great ideas and helps me to work around the holiday stereotype. For instance I could use a charcoal black and a more coral red orange rather than a pure orange or black. I also like the use of gold like in the mirror frames and in accent furniture pieces.

I think this look is definitely wearing on me. How about you?

Room of the Day: Beautiful Place to Sew

Loving…..

I have been sewing more lately and so I have set up an area for my sewing machine and although my fabrics are sort of everywhere like this photo my space is not nearly as pretty. Loving the old naturally distressed sewing table (you just dont see these anymore like this!) and I would love that extra surface area. I am also swooning over the flowing thick darpery with tassle tiebacks. I wouldnt mind that view either.

Is this not the sweetest sewing area you ever could see?

Weeks Best! October 11th-16th

One of my favorite color combos is rust paprika reds with natural greens. They would look warm and lovely together in a room or monochromatic adjacent to one another. Adding light natural wood or beige tones is also a nice compliment. Enjoy the inspiration!

Working with Sectionals

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

On Sunday my husband was quite the decorator. He has been itching for some change and so he figured rearranging the apartment would help. He made the cutest floor plan and actually made it to scale and cut out little pieces of furniture. So adorable! I am so happy we rearranged because it looks great and I didn’t realize how much I needed the change too! I have taught him well! ;)

We have a very large sectional that is difficult to work with. Before we used the sectional to create a living room area separate from the other “zones”. We decided that we wanted the area to be more open so we moved it into a corner making the space feel more open and less closed off with unnecessary hallways. Our space is just not big enough to pull off the sectional actually sectioning off a space like a divider. I figured that some other people might be in similar dilemma and so I posted some images below that have sectionals in them to show how other designers worked with them. The first 6 photos are examples of sectionals placed in the corner and the last 6 are examples of sectionals being used to break off a space creating a divider between areas. Hope this helps!

So I know a lot of other bloggers have already featured the beautiful shop Terrain but I couldn’t resist sharing my own favorites here on my blog. Hope these images help start your Monday! :)

There is something so relaxing about their beautiful products. The natural country feel and homey atmosphere put me in a restful mood. It makes me want to decorate my home and future garden like this especially for those stressful days. I love that one of the images has a book in it called Natural Garden Style. This is a great way to describe their look and image. I love it!
