Room of the Day: Soft Neutral Bedroom

Friday, May 8th, 2009

I have always wanted a really large bedroom so I could have more flexibility in rearranging my bed. I really like how they placed this gorgeous bed at an angle almost as if it’s an extra large chaise for looking out the window. Notice the shoji screen behind the bed to make the arrangement even more special.

And check out that chandelier! It might be more suitable in a dining room or an entry hall but I think its pretty cool for over the bed if you aren’t too worried about it falling on you. I like that it helps make the bed feel cozier since the walls are really tall. The extra large windows are also pretty sweet and I just adore that little stool with the book on it. Such a calm and serene space!

One of my ALL TIME favourite interiors! If I remember correctly, this is the home of the woman who owns the store ‘Ochre’, which is my number one source for gorgeous things in New York (she’s british, and the original store is in England). Anyhow, she designs those chandeliers as well as amazing furniture, etc…

oh, I love how they placed the bed at an angle! You’ve got to have a large bedroom to do that though :( I like your association with a chaise - describes it really well!
I like the shelves between the window and the curtains, very original and pragmatic :)

I’ve loved the bed in an angle for a long time. I just love the unexpectedness of it! But you’re right…you need a good sized room, otherwise it feels cramped.

Oh, what I would do for a shoji screen! I want chandeliers everywhere…especially, if they’re as unique as this one!

Great find! Have a great weekend!

How stunning! I love this layout and I usually don’t like furniture at an angle. I love the chaise effect and the chandelier is gorgeous.

I love the colours and the light! The chandelier is gorgeous, but I think I’m in the worried category… It looks really great in this room though!
Have a lovely weekend Rachel - hope your jetlag is better!
