Do you like this room?

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Last week Coco + Kelley posted this room as her Room of the Week and I normally love everything she posts but I had some issues with this living space. I read all her comments and I feel like I am the only one here that is not very fond of it.

First of all I think it is way overdone. I love scattered picture frames like nobody else but I feel they don’t coordinate that well and there could have been more cohesiveness. I like the pattern on the sofa but I feel like its a little busy with the rug. And that lime green lamp? Cool lamp, but not in this space. There is also two coffee tables which I know is quite different and all but I am just not feeling it.

I hate to be so negative on this blog and maybe I am being too picky and this is just more of a realistic living space but I just need to know I am not crazy. So what do you guys think? Do you like it? If so, what do you like about it?

Room by Color: Soft Purple Living Rooms

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

A little bit of purple, plum, fuchsia, lavender or whatever you want to call it can really make a space elegant. I was never really a purple person but I now have a high appreciation for it because I get giddy inside when I see it. Maybe it’s because it’s sort of girly and romantic or maybe because I know I can’t have it. Well, I could have it but I know my fiance would not like it too much. At least I get to have some pink and purple in the bathroom. :)

It seems like I am also drawn to regal and traditional purple living rooms maybe because purple is associated with royalty and prestige. I love the idea of subtly adding purple by way of an accent wall, upholstery, rugs and other decor like shown in these photos.

My favorites in this collection are the pillows and settee shown from Trine Thorsen. Great fabric coordination using a monochromatic color scheme. I also really love that traditional chair from EKB Interiors. Looks fabulous with that lime green pillow. Which one is your favorite?
