Last week I got to check out the progress of a very large condominium that I had 3d modeled for an Interior Designer. I worked off the floor plans, roof plans and elevations to create a complete 3d model of a high end condominium located in Wailea, Maui. Looking at the renderings and photos you can see how complicated the roof is. It was by far the most difficult thing to accomplish. The client just wanted to see how the space would look spatially and so many materials or exact furniture was not integrated into the 3d renderings. As you can see the space is not completly finished but I wanted to share with you some beautiful details like the custom shelving unit, entertainment center and kitchen. Hopefully when it’s completly finished I can share with you the final photographs. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I think what I love most about these dining chairs is that they are all unique in their own way. They each have their own style and can stand on their own or as a group. Designing a chair seems to have so many endless possibilities and statistically is people’s favorite furniture item. Making that dining room inspiration room yesterday got me thinking about how upholstering a dining chair can really dramatically improve and change the space. I also love the idea of purchasing old dining chairs and painting them white or even a fun color like blue or green to make your dining room really pop and modernize it in an expensive way. I think my favorites are 5, 9 & 10. Which one is your favorite?

I was so inspired by the designs from Megan Park (featured last week) that I decided to use one of her photos for an inspiration board. The image in the top left hand corner is showcasing Megan Park’s Homewares. It provided beautiful fabric and texture inspiration. I decided to use her Long Peony Night Slip in Lollipop (middle) for inspiration on a fabric that I would upholster a seat cushion on a dining chair. I wanted to have a birch round table because I like how it went with the round light wood hangers in the Megan Park photo. I then chose a gray silk drapery that replicated the gray robe and I also decided to use a green textured wallpaper similar to the one in the inspiration image. For accents that would pop I chose red rounded plates and yellow flowers in a vase to decorate the table. I can really visualize this dining space and see it being for cozy and chic.

I love color just as much as the next person but I think gray can be so soothing and calm especially in a bedroom. You can make gray really work when you use lovely textures and patterns and use different shades of gray throughout the space. I bought some new pillows for my bedroom recently and these spaces also gave me some great ideas on how to arrange them. It really is interesting how warm and inviting these rooms are considering how gray they are. Don’t you agree?

I was at my local Barnes and Noble last week and I noticed some incredible greeting cards that have the cutout in intricate designs and I just fell madly in love with them. I was thinking to myself that this is actually a trend in furniture as well. So I looked in my furniture folder and sure enough I found these beauties. I really admire the complexity of some of the designs and I think making a screen is a great idea. I really love it as a storage unit too because you can still see what is inside of it. I think the best part about these is that they make for some amazing shadows. Hope you love these as much as I do and have a great Monday!

I have been drinking so much tea lately and I would much rather be drinking it here. I would be that person that keeps buying tea so I could stay all day. I mean look at those wing chairs! Pure genius. I also just love the way they set up their tea jars. So cute. It reminds me of 18th century shops. Also notice that tiled wall next to the brick. Stunning! I really wish I could snap my fingers and be transported into this tea haven or should I say heaven?

I had seen Megan Park’s beautiful clothing before so boy was I happy when I saw these lovely pillows from her collection. I love the fun quirky style of them and they look similar to the style of Anthropologie. They look like there was a lot of craftsmanship that went into them and they seem to work with everything. I am kind of digging this hodgepodge look. What do you guys think? Would these work in your home?

I decided to put together an inspiration board because it was long overdue. This inspiration image from Process Recess had been in my folder and I came across it again and I knew instantly that I needed to do a room for it. The colors, texture, and shapes are perfect for an interior space. I started with her pretty yellow skirt and I thought about how it played as a large piece but not the largest so I felt doing a chair in yellow would fit best. I like that this chair from Anthropologie has a similar flair like her dress. I then wanted to definitely do something with the maze idea so I figured some sort of wire wall art could work so when I came across this one from Pier 1 I knew it would do. Since the sofa and walls are a large part of a living space I wanted to incorporate colors from the background of the painting. And lastly I chose this cool curvilinear side table that is actually inspired by her two buns. Sort of silly I know but I think it totally works. I can visualize this space and I think if it was my living room it would make me happy and I love the springtime feel of it. Anybody have any other ideas for my imaginary living space?

I will say that pink is not usually the first color I would recommend for a bathroom but arent these fun? I remember one time my fiance and I were looking at apartments in Portland, OR and one of the places we looked at had a pink toilet, bathtub and sink and I just couldn’t do it. The pink bothered me that much. Which was fine because we ended up finding a much better place. I think bath fixtures should usually stay white for more of a timeless appeal instead of it looking like it’s stuck in the fifties. I will make an exception for this fabulous painted pink clawfoot tub because thats just neat. I love a lot of these fun pink wall coverings like the two toned pink tiles, and all the different pink wallpaper. Enjoy!

How cool would it be to be able to watch the Obama Inauguration with this Yes we can rug? I like that it’s subtle and I am really loving the handwriting style. It is a trend I have been seeing a lot lately. I heard that a lot of money went into the inauguration so it better be pretty fabulous!
