Latisse VS Revitalash: The Results…

Friday, March 5th, 2010

latisse_kit

Ah, the thrill is gone. As some of you already know, I began my Latisse journey sometime ago. Latisse gave me the most AMAZING lashes EVER….it was pretty thrilling. Fun to put on my mascara everyday and hear again and again, “Are those REAL?”! But, Latisse is a chunk of change (around $120 for 1 month supply). EVEN though I did find ways to save, I wanted to make the switch to Revitalash (which is around $120 for a 3 month supply). Revitalash also doesn’t require a prescription so I wanted to see if it would help me maintain my amazing Latisse lashes….

revitalash

Well it didn’t…and I’m sad to say my lashes are back to their original glory…but now I have milia all along my lashline! It seems applying the product everyday wast too much for my dear pores to handle…’Cause you know I need another bump on my face to obsess over, right?

But I’m not giving up yet. I’ve  heard that Revitalash takes awhile longer to get results, so I will keep you posted.

Have you tried any other lash treatments with great results? Do tell….

Beauty How To: Uncircle your undereye circles…..

Friday, February 12th, 2010

45856919v3_480x480_frontWhether you need nap or just inherited your dark circles, they can be a BUGGER to hide. Especially when you get longer in the tooth and concealers can make you look like you have tributaries running under your eyes as well!

So here’s my Tip O’ the Day: When covering REALLY dark under eye circles go against popular belief and try a concealer a shade DARKER than your normal.  Most artists will advise you to go one shade LIGHTER but I find that this causes the really dark green/bluish circles to look highlighted and greyish.  Just make sure to apply the darker concealer in a V-shape pattern along the inner corners above and below the eye…then blend, blend, blend!

med-80-614969408045-multiphase-concealerI’m SO in love with Erno Lazslo’s Mulit-pHase Concealer ($36). This highly pigmented mousse-like concealer mimics skin’s own texture so it gives the coverage you need without adding to the whole wrinkle situtation. Bonus, it covers zits just as well!

Holy COW it’s cold. And I don’t know about you, but my poor eyes have been SCREAMING for love! So when Dr. Perricone’s people contacted me and asked if one of my dear readers might like to try Advanced Eye Therapy ($95) I was like, um YEAH!

If you aren’t familiar with the little brown bottles, Dr. Perricone is one of the beauty worlds’ foremost experts on skin aging. He is the father of the “inflammation theory of aging” and bottom-line, Kim Catrall wouldn’t be as “sexy-in-the-city”  if she wasn’t a total Dr. Perricone devotee!

SO, please leave a comment below ( winner must be a US resident and leave a valid email address) and tell me…What are you most thankful for this Holiday Season? The winner will be picked at random next Monday, December 14th.

halloween-012

Happy Tuesday my beauties…FINALLY got it together enough to show you my new Latisse lashes…Not bad,eh?  These results  are after about 6 weeks on the juice. I am very happy to experience what you naturally “gifted” long-lashed girls do everyday now.  Besides being a little bit itchy the first few days I’ve had no side effects and the other major upside??  It’s kinda fun putting on mascara now…..

halloween-018

The downside of Latisse? The price tag (duh)..It’ll set you back about $150 and the fact that the lash growth isn’t necessarily symmetrical (since these photos I’ve done some stategic trimming). I know, having to trim your eye lashes…what a PROBLEM,lol!

Have YOU used Latisse? Share it….

Smoky Eyes on the CHEAP…

jessomaw-010

(if I can rock a smoky eye, what are YOU waiting for?)

This smoky eye look is TOTALLY drugstore (on the eyes at least..you know how I get about foundation)! I picked up Rimmel’s Color Rush Quad Eye Shadows in Smoky Noir (<$4) at Target last week and topped off the look with their Glam Eye’s Lash Flirt Mascara ($7.25)…The high-tech mascara wand has teeth to really help you get into the base of your lashes and the lightweight formula didn’t end up under my eyes after a day on set!

rimmel-trend-1Yay, Rimmel!!!  Leave it to those cheeky Brits to  give us good quality shadows at such a great price…That way you can afford to play! Need a refresher? Check out my Smoky Eye 101.

Eye-Opener: Kiss Faux Eyelashes….

Monday, September 14th, 2009

ab61a927-183e-42cd-85b1-2abd15e31e83-lsh01c_lHappy Monday my beauties…Hope you had a great weekend. Well I did…I got to do makeup all weekend for the “thea-tah”! No really, theatrical makeup is a total departer from my norm and since my client was a living doll the over-the-top makeup was the icing on the cake!

So I test drove a new-t0-me false eye lash brand...i-EVNY by Kiss. I have always been really devoted to Ardell, but I must say…these lashes were perfect for the job and looked fabulous!  Check em out next trip to Ulta, CVS or Walgreens if you’re a lash girl.

Oh, and I also got to try a little tip I learned from legendary makeup artist Eve Pearl…Before applying your fake eye  lashes take a black marker (or eye liner pen if you have one) and color in the spaces on the band between the lashes. Then when you apply the false eyelash those annoying little spaces are gone.  Plus it saves time because you don’t have to go back over the lashes with liner once you apply!

Oh, and if you need a refresher here’s my Eyelash 101.

Drugstore Beauty: The Weekly Top 5

01293medicated-and-motivated-posters (well maybe not yet..but I will be after my appt. next week)

TGIF my beauties…I”m not gonna lie, it’s been a TOUGH week. On top of personal drama, I had to sign a FORM so my kids could watch our president in school today! WTH is wrong with people? It’s the kind of thing that shakes my faith, ya know? We had to put up with YOUR stupid puppet (I mean, president) for WAAAY too long…Give us this simple speech people. What do think is going to happen? Your kids might actually gain EMPATHY for their fellows (as in everyone deserves medical care)? (sorry, you can see where I’m going with this…..excuse my instability). So now let’s get back to the fluff:

caress-wash1

1. Caress Evenly Gorgeous (<$5) Body Wash...I”m gonna venture out here and say “If you love Donna Karan’s Cashmere Mist you’ll love…..”. Yeah, the scent is pretty phenomenal (although I’ll pass on the ineffective “exfoliating beads”)…That way I could shave my legs more comfortably with it. If you are craving  a good smell on the cheap, this is it.

889_l2. Burts Bees Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream (<$8). So if you were a Noxzema girl growing up but have started to become paranoid about all the nasty chemicals in it, than this BB’s cream cleanser is SO for you. Again, the smell is intoxicating….(just watch out for the eye area).

bl1019de3. Olay Quench Body Lotion Active Hydration (with Green Tea & Vitamin Complex) (<$9). Niacinamide is the THIRD ingredient (yay) but mostly I love this one because it’s lighter (and absorbs quicker) than their other formulas. Perfect if you have to squeeze in a shower 20 minutes before you pick up the kids and then stand outside in the 150 degree weather waiting for them for them (read less of the slimy, wilted flower feeling). Could you get that?

3in1concealerhero_185x2254. Neutrogena 3-in-1 Concealer for Eyes (<$10). I pulled this bad boy back out this week since I”m losing my summer color (I mean damage). While the coverage isn’t heavy enough for a “full makeup day”….achieving a more rested-looking, sun-protected and moisturized eye area all in one is FABOO my dears.

exact_eyelights_eyeshadow_15. Covergirl Exact Eyelights Eye Brightening Shadows (<$7). OMG, I have been  having so much fun with these shadows..with 4 shades in each pallete your options are pretty endless….REALLY amazed at the amount of pigment they contain and how long they last…and imagine my astonishment when I could actually USE the brush it comes with…BRAVO Covergirl, BRAVO!!!

So that’s it my beauties…thanks for hanging in with me and putting up with my rants no matter what your political views may be.

United in Beauty. xoxo
