Farwell to a Favorite: Cornsilk Classic Translucent Loose Powder…
Yep, I am just going to have to accept it. My ALL-TIME favorite loose finishing powder has officially gone bye-bye. I started my romance with Cornsilk Classic Translucent Loose Powder in No Color when I was only 13! Fast-forward to today (…34..*ahem*) and I still depend on it to for myself and my clients EVERYDAY….
After getting low myself (and talking to several of my girlfriends and clients who were in need too) I went on a mission yesterday to finally find it…..2 Ultas, 2 CVS’s, Walgreens, Walmart & Target later, I came home to find this page.
Heartbroken, really. Do any of you beauties have a favorite loose powder that manages to absorb oil AND blend away fine lines??? HELP!

NOOOOOOO!!! I love Cornsilk and use it every day! I did buy a backup a month or so ago at 75% off clearance, and now I know why. I’m totally bummed.

Have you tried NYC loose powder? It’s like $3 and I swear it’s the best drugstore loose powder I’ve ever used. I wrote a review about it a while back if you want more details:

If you try it, I’d love to know what you think! The only problem is that the container kind of sucks, but for the price, who cares, right?

The best I have found is Bare Escentuals. I have such oily skin you could start a branch of Exxon on it, but the mineral powder you apply after the loose powder foundation keeps my face just about oil-free all day long. It’s AMAZING!

They had tons of this stuff at Big Lots. I live in CT and I know many times what is received by Big Lots is regional. But check there. You might hit pay dirt!

Holly..I have used the Mineral Veil from BE and really did like it…thanks for the suggestion…thanks for the recommendations ladies…looks like I will have to make a trip out to Big Lots (cross your fingers)……

Josi I knew I liked you!! I love this powder and have not been able to find it anywhere in Dallas… Now I know I will have to compete with you for any remaining stock… ha ha
I am going to call my Mom in Ok… the last time I was home I saw some at the Walgreens there and the Walmart I think… I will keep you posted.

Aww! Its definitely not in the same price range, but I love Make Up For Ever’s HD Microfinish Powder. At the drugstore, I like L’Oreal’s loose powder too.

Update on finding it at Big Lots…a really small store in a crappy strip center had five of them and the big, newer store in a huge center had ZERO!
So - maybe try the smaller, tucked away stores and you might have better luck.

Too funny Trude…I have been stealing my MUFE HD from my kit everyday supplementing…I love it (esp.) for broadcast work but it just dosen’t seem to suck up the old grease that the Cornsilk did….waaaa…more me.

Hey M…By the way, Big Lots at 15th & Independence doesn’t have any :(. I was going to go to one up by my moms in Sherman this weekend but ran out of time….we are still not moved into our house yet so things are absolutely topsy-turvy….

Just got home from Houston…two stores didn’t have any left and the one on Westheimer only had two boxes of the “No Color”…the rest were the Matte version.

I have used this for over 40 years and never found anything as good. We all need to write Sally Hansen and start a campaign to get it back.
