So yeah, sometimes I’m a bit slow (if you haven’t already guessed)…After seeing ads in the backs of magazines for this classic for YEARS…. I’d also been told by more than a few folks how great this “old school” beauty classic works. I finally made it into Ulta to shell out the $17 bucks for it. SO GLAD…..Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion has done a great job clearing up the mess that is my face the last week or so!
The combo of salicylic acid, sulfur and camphor manage to dry zits up without irritation. “Sensitive Sally’s” use with caution though..this stuff’ll burn yer nose hairs right out of the gate!
What’s your latest weapon in the war? Do tell….

Katy Perry’s makeup artist Jake Bailey did a fabulous job this year mixing Hi and Lo beauty products to give her an amazing glow at Grammys. While the dress and bang didn’t make my list, that skin and purply-pink lip did float my boat.

Jake achieved complexion perfection with Make Up For Ever’s HD Invisible Cover Foundation (hey, I just used that this morning on MY broadcast beauty). This foundation looks just as great on camera as it does picking up the kids at school…..
Her lovely lip was all Cover Girl as Jake lined and filled in the entire lip with CG Outlast Lip Stain in Berry Wink. Looks like I need to pick up that shade next trip out….

God knows I LOVE Kate. And she would be the first to tell you that this “photo-retouching” thing has gone a tad bit out of control…and even though I WORK in photography and see the “before”, I STILL find myself comparing my own visage to the photo-shopped perfection in magazines.
You’ve got to go check out Unattainable Beauty: The Decades most egregious retouching scandals over at Newsweek.com. Because zits, wrinkles and age spots (i.e. “life” side effects) happen, and we don’t have to feel any less beautiful for it. In fact, “life” looks pretty good on all the beautiful women I know!!!

Okay I’m going to wipe my watering mouth now. Rock & Republic Cosmetics (yes, your favorite denim does makeup too) is now offering the Noir Train Case Set in Cool and Warm. The $400 price tag will set you back a couple of pairs of jeans, but this set does include a primo set of makeup brushes and a full-sized Essie Matte Topcoat….I love R&R’s highly pigmented shadows and long-lasting glosses.
Ah, a girl can dream…..

Calling all Bobbi Brown Long Wearing Gel Liner and MAC Fluid line Eye Liner addicts!!! I happened on Maybelline’s Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eye Liner last trip out to Walmart. SO happy drugstore brands are catching on to what I need. Granted Maybelline’s color selection doesn’t even come close to the department store brands (just your basic black, brown, charcoal and purple), but the quality is THERE. Lasting Drama Gel Liners also come with a brush that is keeper (although I prefer using an angled brush for my gels).
I thought the Maybelline gel liner wore just as well as their more expensive counterparts ( these bad boys will run you around $7 bucks vs the $15 department store)….AND you can pick it up while you are buying laundry detergent. NICE, real NICE.

Calling all EL devotees…If you haven’t tried Erno Laszlo’s Absolute Finish Foundation SPF 15($47) yet, your skin will thank you. This light-as-air mousse gives medium-to-full coverage without caking up into fine lines and wrinkles. I repeat. Great coverage without caking into fine lines and wrinkles.
I recommend this for my clients who are on the dry side since the only down side I noticed was a tad bit more shine at the end of the day.
What’s your favorite new foundation? Anything I need to know about?

TGIF my beauties! Pro’s know that giving good face is all about prep, prime and finish. Help your makeup last and reduce your need for touch-ups with Skindinavia Makeup Finishes ($19-$39). There’s a formula for every skin type…from oily to dry, to hot weather and hot camera lights.
The surface cooling technology of these finishes actually keeps the skin surface 20 Degrees cooler than the surface air! Ah-mazing…I’m so going to have to buy the Cool Flash Makeup Finish ($19) for photo shoots and our sweltering Texas summers (which dosen’t sound so bad right about now..).
