A Little Light Moving

Twolia plans to disband it’s blog section. So, this blog will be moving to another network, when I decide which one I would like to try next.

In the meantime you can find me through Twitter or my landing page at ThatGrrl.ca

Life is Like a Rainbow

“Life is like a rainbow. You need both the sun and the rain to make its colors appear.” - Unknown

This quote comes from My Little Drummer Boys. I’m doing IComWeLeave this week. Are you?

The Little Knitted People

I went to the German Canadian Bazaar today. These were about the closet thing they had to handmade crafts. It was disappointing that way. I think a lot of local bazaars are like that now. People are selling machine made stuff and those who would have made the handmade stuff are getting older or just too busy. 001

The Sound of Breaking Glass

The sound of breaking glass makes me remember a day when we were moving to another house. My Mother had dishes and glasses she didn’t want to move (wanted to buy a new set instead). So we smashed them all in the kitchen sink.

That was amazing. I never would have thought you could relive the stress of moving that well, that quickly. It was destructive but the sound of breaking glass and china makes me feel better when I have a bad day, even years later.

Most of the glass and china (crockery?)  was recycled in various ways, not the Blue Box (they don’t want broken stuff in there).  I think she still has some shards which are going to be stuck to a plant pot.

Remembrance Poppies

033Not a great photo. But I still have ideas to discover about close up photography.

Drawing for Halloween

Trying a couple of ideas for my background on the Word Grrls blog. I picked the cat to use. The other turned out fine but I thought it was too busy for a background.

For a Halloween-ish Birthday

My nephew’s 14th birthday was this month. I made this drawing for his birthday card. He loved the shirt I found for him too.

Have You Ever Kept a Dream Journal?

I seem to dream less (dreams I can remember when I wake up) than I did when I was younger. I remember having a lot more dreams when I was in my 20’s. My worst dream was something about finding the devil in my classroom from high school. It really creeped me out that morning and for most of that week. My best dreams were about flying, over mountains, through clouds and far away to other places. I never really kept an official journal of just my dreams. I did write some of my dreams into my regular diary/ journal if I had time before I had to rush along for the day.

Some days I wake up with some odd thought, just a flash. Probably it is some leftover bit of a dream. How else could you wake up thinking “This Zoo no longer hunts goldfish.” .

Here’s a really interesting idea for you, dream maps! They don’t mean dreams literally (it about keeping yourself on track for your goals and dreams) but still, isn’t a dream something your brain wants to remind you about, in some way or whatever reason?

Pretty Aprons

I’m not an apron wearer when I cook or bake. I think I’m just not that organized really. I do pull out all of my ingredients and the pots and pans and other tools first. My Mother taught me that. Many times it has saved me from starting something I don’t have all the right stuff to finish.

Anyway, my sister really likes a pretty apron. She didn’t used to cook when she first got interested in frilly, pretty aprons. It seemed pretty ironic to me. But, she is now cooking and baking so I can’t say she collects aprons she doesn’t need.

Do you wear an apron when you work in the kitchen? Do you have a collection of them or some passed along from family and friends?

Living Dolls are Watching You Now

Someone else is doing the craziness of living doll photos: Uncouth Heathen: You’re Being Watched.  The goldfish with the mustache is my favourite. Have you ever even thought of a goldfish in disguise?

Have you tried anything like this yet? Pick some little toy-type of thing you have around the house. Everyone has something they’ve picked up from somewhere. Then put it in the real world somewhere. It doesn’t even have to make a lot of sense, or be funny to anyone but yourself. Give it a try and post a link here in the comments.
